In a rare honour for Bollywood directors, the Karachi film festival - being held in December - will have a retrospective section on noted film maker Subhash Ghai. |
"It is an honour for me as well as the indian film industry," said Ghai, who has directed many commercially successful films in his career spanning twenty years. |
The Karachi film festival will be held from December 1 to 11. "I would be travelling there to attend the retrospective," Ghai said. It will be his first visit to Pakistan. |
The films by Ghai, which will be screened at the festival, are 'Khalnayak', 'Taal', 'Pardes' and his latest 'Kisna'. |
The filmmaker also said that this development marks a "step ahead" in improvement in relations of between the two countries. |
He also expressed a desire that considering the popularity of Bollywood movies in Pakistan, Indian films should be allowed to be screened in theatres there, and similarly it should be possible for indian audiences to view Pakistani movies here. |
An alumnus of film and Television Institute of India, Pune, Ghai made his directorial debut in 1978 with `Kalicharan' and has directed fifteen movies so far. |
