Shashi Tharoor, who has resigned as a Union Minister in the wake of the IPL Kochi controversy, is expected to make a statement in the Lok Sabha tomorrow.

Government sources said that a minister who resigns from the Union Cabinet has a right to give a personal explanation and that could be utilised by Tharoor.

Tharoor, a Lok Sabha member from Thiruvananthapuram, today met Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, who is the Leader of the Lok Sabha. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal was also present at the meeting.

Tharoor resigned as Minister of State for External Affairs in the wake of allegations that he misused office to get Rs 70 crore worth sweat equity for his friend Sunanda Pushkar from IPL Kochi team owners.
