Tiger concert's star draw

Prince, one of the world's most popular musicians with sales of more than 100 million records, will team up with Tiger Woods to help underserved youths through the Tiger Woods Learning Center.
 
The event, to be held on May 29 in Las Vegas, will be part of the annual Tiger Jam Benefit Concert, which this year is being sponsored by SBC Communications.
 
"I am sure Prince will put on an amazing concert," said Tiger. An auction is being organised at the concert, which will include 2,005 VIP Kentucky Derby tickets, two round-trip first-class tickets and a week's accommodation in Temenos, a St Regis Retreat in the Caribbean. A putting lesson from Woods will be the other bid draw.
 
Player to share Cup
 
Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus will once again lead the teams at the President's Cup in September 19-25, 2005, at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club on Lake Manassas in Prince William County.
 
The President's Cup was held in South Africa last year, and points were at 17 each after regulation play. After a three-hole and a sudden death play-off between Tiger and Els not yielding any result, the competition was declared a tie.
 
The captains decided that they would share the cup. Nicklaus has won 73 PGA Tour events and 18 professional major championship victories.
 
While Player has seen 163 career tournament wins.Both are amongst the five players that have won all four Majors. The other three are Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan and Tiger Woods.
 
Furyk to stay out of action
 
US Open champion Jim Furyk, who was forced to watch the US Master on TV, may find it difficult to make it back in time to defend his US Open title.
 
Furyk tore the cartilage in his left wrist and had to undergo surgery five weeks ago. Furyk had a full range of motion 10 days after the operation and is now in rehab.
 
British Open
 
The organisers of the 133rd Open Championship at Royal Troon has decided to increase the prize money by £100,000. The Open champion will receive a cheque of £720,000 and this is a £20,000 increase over last year's first prize won by Ben Curtis.
 
In dollar trems, the prize fund works out to $ 7.1 million for the tournament. Since 1997, the total prize money has increased from £ 1.6m to £ 4 million and 1st prize from £ 250,000 to £ 720,000.
