German carmaker BMW has officially launched the petrol powered 5 series 520i in India. Powered by a two-litre, four-cylinder engine, the BMW 520i is priced at Rs. 54 lakh (ex-showroom across the country).
The introduction of the petrol variant makes the 5 series available in both petrol and diesel variants. Imported as a CBU, the new BMW 520i has been introduced in the ‘Luxury Line’ design scheme.
The 'Luxury Line' trim features chrome at the front and rear including BMW kidney grille, side window frames and tailpipe trim, along with ‘Luxury’ badge on front side panel and car key.
The two-litre petrol powering the new 5 series delivers a power output of 184 hp and a maximum torque of 270 Nm at 1,250 – 4,500 rpm. The official 0-100km/h acceleration timing for the car is 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 233 km/hr. The engine is mated to the familiar eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission with Cruise Control, known for its smooth, seamless gearshifts.
Design-wise there are no big changes in the car compared to the diesel variant. The car gets same dual beam projector headlamps and a sleek front bumper and round fog lamps. Same goes for the rear section as well which continues to come with the sharp LED tail lamps, large bumper and dual chrome tipped tail pipes. The car also gets a set of sporty 18-inch alloy wheels.
While the interior design also remains the same, the customer gets the options to choose from different upholstery colours - Dakota Cinnamon Brown, Black, Dakota Veneto Beige and Dakota Oyster with exclusive black stitching. Other features include - ambient light with selectable mood lights, electrical glass sunroof, multi-functional steering wheel wrapped in sport leather, electrically adjustable driver and passenger seat and wooden panels among others.
The BMW ConnectedDrive features multifunction instrument display, the next generation of BMW iDrive with a 25.9 cm colour display. The car also comes equipped with sat-nav, Harman Kardon Surround Sound System, BMW Apps, Park Distance Control, Rear View Camera and Connectivity through Bluetooth/USB devices.
The new BMW 520i is available in three stylish colour options – Alpine White (non-metallic), Black Sapphire and Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect (both metallic).
