Maruti Suzuki, which launched its very first premium crossover in the form of 'S-Cross' in India, is planning to add more value to the model by offering an optional petrol engine.

S-Cross is exclusively available through the company's Nexa dealerships across India.

Currently, Maruti Suzuki offers the S-Cross only with diesel engine options. An option between a 1.3-litre MJD engine and a 1.6-litre one is offered to customers. Now the S-Cross could get an optional petrol engine as it is available in international markets as well.

The S-Cross is offered with two petrol engine options internationally. Customers in India are most likely to get either the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine or the highly acclaimed 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol engine, according to company sources.

In order to improve sales of the S-Cross, the Japanese car manufacturer recently slashed the price of all S-Cross variants in India. The company also refunded some money as a sign of trust and honesty to the previous buyers of the car.

The S-Cross is currently priced competitively against its rival Hyundai’s Creta. While the base variant of S-Cross is priced at Rs. 8.03 lakh, the fully loaded crossover costs Rs. 12.03 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). The company is hoping to see more takers for S-cross with the inclusion of petrol version.
