'Budget ignored retail industry'

It is disappointing that there has been no consensus on the FDI in multi-brand retail as it would have enhanced the expansion of the sector.

This would have increased employment opportunity, better quality standards and competitive pricing only to benefit the masses. As rural India is moving towards modernisation, this calls for a systematic approach which is possible in the organised form of retailing.

The inefficiency to tackle this at grass root will impact the sustenance of organized retail. Sadly the government also failed to highlight issues like policy transparency, investments in IT infrastructure and logistics in supply chain which is currently the need of the hour.
