Fedex Corporation, Texas Instruments and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) have been named the top three places to work in 2004 by the Growtalent-Businessworld 'Great Places to Work' survey. |
The others in the list of great places to work are Computer Sciences Corporation, Mindtree Consulting, Sasken Communications, Godrej Consumer Products, Intel, Sapient and Honeywell. |
Of the 25 companies in the list, 10 companies are Indian. IT majors like Wipro Spectramind and Infosys Technologies are ranked 12th and 20th, respectively. |
Last year, Texas Instruments, Federal Express and Johnson and Johnson Consumer Products were named the great places to work. As compared to the list last year, there have been new entrants like Mindtree Consulting, Sasken Communication Technologies, Glaxo SmithKline, St Microelectronics and Honeywell Technologies while firms like Nokia, Ernst And Young, Tata Teleservices, Max New York Life and NIIT have fallen off the list. |
The survey, which is based on parameters like credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie among employees, shows that respondents gives maximum weightage of 80 per cent to credibility, 78 per cent to issues of respect, 81 per cent weightage to pride and 82 per cent to camaraderie. |
The survey has large number of participants from IT companies who are looking at beefing up communication levels. |
"The technology firms like Infosys, Sapient, CSC and Intel are focusing more on internal communication and transparency. There are talks of more 'accessible leaders' to motivate workers. Also, the top management is sharing details of important projects with the team managers to improve transparency and sense of belongingness," Anil Sachdev, CEO of Growtalent said. |
It is, however, the issues of fairness which is affecting the companies most and the survey shows that the rankings have gone down on the fairness aspect. |
