The state government will make an all-out effort to revive the sick industries and will not allow privatisation of public sector undertakings (PSUs), according to industries and labour minister P G R Sindhia.

Addressing the state-level conference of All India Federation of SC/ST, Backward and Minorities Employees Welfare Association, Sindhia said that PSUs were the wealth of the people and therefore profits were not important when compared to the people working in them.

"We will take it up as a challenge to revive all PSUs that are in the red," he said.

On the association's demand for recognising 'grama sevaks' as government employees and increasing their salaries from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000, the minister said that he would arrange for a meeting of the association with chief minister Dharam Singh and revenue minister M P Prakash for a discussion on this issue.
