Konkan Railway is constructing a "Holiday Home Complex" near Madgaon station in Goa for railway employees in the country.

Foundation stone for the complex will be laid on August 15 by Railway Board Chairman K C Jena.

"For long Goa has been a perfect getaway for tourists from all over the world and hotels are booked as early as even a year in advance for peak season. Soon, at least, the railway employees need not worry about getting accommodation while on a trip to Goa," a Konkan railway spokesperson said.

The Holiday Home Complex will be a swanky three-storeyed building with aesthetic interiors and exteriors and lush green lawns.

The complex will have 80 rooms, each having a carpet area of 30 square metres with amenities like fridge, TV, double bed, sofa set, wardrobe, dressing table and attached bathroom and balcony.

The complex will have recreation/conference hall with indoor sports facility. It will also have a common kitchen and dining hall. Each floor will accommodate 24 rooms.

The project will be constructed at a cost of Rs seven crore and will be managed and maintained by the Konkan Railway.

The construction will be completed in two-and-a-half years, the spokesperson added.
