With Mamata Banerjee's hunger-strike entering the eighth day today, CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose said that Trinamool chief was acting like an "adamant little girl". Without naming Banerjee, Bose described her as "an MP who never submits her views on issues of development, and instead makes unreasonbable statements and has been acting just like an adamant little girl." Bose's comments came after the TC supremo rejected repeated appeals by Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, veteran Marxist Jyoti Basu and Left Front Chairman Biman Bose himself to call off her fast. Bose, a CPI(M) Politburo member, while addressing an SFI-sponsored rally held close to the site of Mamata Banerjee 'dharna manch' at Esplanade here, said: "People of the state will not tolerate the move to create lawlessness and chaos by any force." Attacking social activist Medha Patkar, whom he also did not name, Bose said that she had involved herself in politics in West Bengal in the name of social activities. He said "anti-development forces" were silent on rehabilitation and the compensation package given to the affected farmers who had given their land. The CPI(M) leader also criticised a section of the intelligentsia for carrying out a "misinformation campaign" about the Tata small car project at Singur. CLICK HERE TO VIEW A RELATED VIDEO |
