'Steel technologists must devise cost-effective techniques'

Managing Director of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) S N Singh has said that the challenge before the steel technologists was to put in place a cost-effective processes for producing competitive products.

To enhance productivity, it was essential for 100 per cent processing of steel through continuous casting and incorporation of latest technology he said while inaugurating the 42nd Steel Making Operating Committee Meeting in Orissa, yesterday.

"Emphasis has to be given to value-added product mix through secondary refining processes and state-of-art process control computerisation and automation", Singh said while addressing the gathering of 138 delegates of steel experts attending the two-day conference.

 

N P Singh, Executive Director (works) in his address stressed that vast changes occurred globally in the steel making process, it was pertinent for all steel makers to see that the new technology adopted by them responded to the market needs.
