SpiceJet has cancelled 1,861 flights on various routes between December 8 and 31. While a majority of them are Boeing 737 operated flights cancelled flights also include some operated by Bombardier Q400 planes.

The Bombardier Q400 flights, which have been cancelled include flights between Delhi-Dehradun, Delhi-Indore, Delhi-Jaipur, among others. Media reports had said earlier that the cancellation of some of the flights would lead to suspension of operation at smaller stations, but this could not be confirmed.

The airline has sent an SMS to customers informing them of the cancellation and giving them two mobile numbers which they can call for an alternate flight. However, passengers were not informed if they could be accommodated on other airlines.

The airline said the flights were cancelled due to "operational reasons". A customer who booked a flight from Mumbai to Kolkata for December 21 said she "desperately tried since morning, but the mobile numbers which were given were not answered".
