11 officials suspended

The Orissa government which is in the Opposition line of fire over the multi-crore coal scam has suspended 11 officials embroiled in the scam based on the enquiry by the vigilance department.

“As many as 11 officials have been suspended so far for their involvement in the coal scam as per the vigilance probe. The Vigilance enquiry into the scam is underway”, state minister for industries Raghunath Mohanty said in response to a query in the Assembly.

Two officials of the Orissa Small Industries Corporation (OSIC)- Sarat Kumar Satpathy, general manager of the corporation and Mahesh Kumar Mohapatra, manager have been suspended. OSIC is the nodal agency for the distribution of coal to the small scale industries in the state. The charges related to supply of coal at concessional rate to some bogus SSI units by OSIC.

 

The other persons suspended in this connection are Sitikant Sarangi, general manager, District Industries Centre (DIC)- Jagatpur; Niranjan Moharana, general manager, District Industries Centre- Jagatsinghpur; Sachinandan Mohanty general manager, DIC- Kendrapara; Srikant Prusty, former general manager, DIC- Cuttack, Ranindra Nath Gochhayat of DIC- Jagatpur; Sangram Keshari Mohanty of DIC- Kendrapara; Prashant Kumar Parida of DIC-Kendrapara; Nihar Ranjan Parida of DIC-Jagatpur; Manoranjan Bisoi of DIC-Cuttack and Chittaranjan Satpathy of DIC-Cuttack.
