Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Retail will launch 30 new `Reliance Fresh' retail outlets in the city and the adjoining suburbs this month.

"We will start 30 stores in Mumbai and Thane this month," a source close to the development told PTI today.

He said the stores would be typically of an area of around 3,000-5,000 sq ft.

Each store would provide fresh fruits, vegetables and also products of Reliance Select and other related groceries.

"Reliance is planning every possible retail format like convenient stores, supermarkets, hyper markets and speciality stores. However, our expansion will also depend on the availability of real estate," he said.

Every store will have at least 50 employees, which means that around 1,500 would be employed in the 30 new outlets.

Reliance plans to launch at least one hypermarket in the next three months, and intends to penetrate even the smaller cities, he said.

"At present, we are working on getting suitable locations," he said.

He ruled out the possibility of the cluster format of retail outlets.
