The state owned Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Orissa (Idco) has allotted 34022.45 acres of land to 52 industries who have signed MoUs (Memoranda of Understanding) with the state government.
This includes 9863.22 acres of government land and 24159.23 acres of private land.
The maximum land allocation (23779.14 acres) has been made in favour of the steel players which constitutes 7176.63 acres of government land and 16602.51 acres of private land.
This was informed by S N Patra, the state minister for revenue and disaster management in response to a query in the state assembly.
Among the steel players, the highest land allocation has been made in favour of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (3738.59 acres) at Kerjang in Angul district for its integrated six million tonne per annum steel and power project.
Tata Steel has been allotted 3521.71 acres of land at Gopalpur for its Special Economic Zone. Similarly, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd has been given 3347.84 acres at Paradeep for its refinery project.
Idco has allotted 7246.47 acres of land (5400.84 acres private land and 1845.63 acres government land) to two aluminium players, Vedanta Aluminium and Aditya Aluminium, who have signed MoUs with the state government.
In the power sector, Idco has allotted 2779.57 acres to different Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
This includes 2155.88 acres of private land with the remaining 623.69 acres being government land.
The beneficiary IPPs are Monnet Power Company Ltd (47.48 acres) at Chhendipada in Angul district, Jindal India Thermal Power (793.37 acres) at Derang near Talcher, Bhushan Energy (100 acres) at Banarpal in Angul district, Tata Power (62.67 acres) at Naraj in Cuttack district, Visa Power (159.96 acres) at Brahmanbasta under Athagarh in Angul district, GMR Energy (920.02 acres) at Kamalanga in Dhenkanal district and Sterlite Energy (443.47 acres) at Banjari in Jharsuguda district.The state government has also allotted 13101.94 acres to various non-MoU signed industries.
They include Utkal Alumina International (2153.93 acres) at Kasipur in Rayagad district, Neelachal Ispat Nigam (2500 acres) at Duburi in Jajpur district, Indian Farmers' Fertilizer Cooperative (151.06 acres) at Musadia under Kujang tehsil in Jagatsinghpur district, Utkal Coal Ltd (874.36 acres) at Chhendipada in Angul district, Mideast Integrated Steel (530.68 acres) at Duburi and Kalinga Coal Mining Ltd (470.47 acres) at Chhendipada.
