64% of mall supply deferred in 2013

Only 3 malls with capacity of 2.94 mn sq ft came up in first half of 2013

About 64% or 5.3 millions sq. ft. of total mall space were deferred in the country in the first half of 2013, said a new report by property consultant Cushman & Wakefield.
 
A total of 8.3 million sq ft was expected in first half of 2013. Only three malls with a total of 2.94 million sq ft came up in the country. 
 
The highest deferment of supply was recorded in NCR, Pune Hyderabad, followed by Bangalore and Kolkata where none of the planned supply entered the market. NCR witnessed the deferment of five malls, followed by two malls in Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and one mall each in Kolkata and Bangalore, Cushman said.
