7 Chemicals, Ferring Pharma ink pact

7 Chemicals, an Ahmedabad-based exporter of pharmaceutical raw materials, finished formulations and chemicals, has inked a deal with Ferring Pharmaceuticals BV of France for oral contraceptive pills.
 
Talking to Business Standard, Rakesh Ohri, managing director of 7 Chemicals, said, "We have inked yet another deal of $4 million with Ferring of France for oral contraceptive pills."
 
According to the company, the deal is a strategic partnership with Ferring Pharmaceuticals as it allows 7 Chemicals the distribution rights of oral contraceptive pills in Russia and CIS countries.
 
The company will manufacture the oral contraceptive pills in India that will be supplied to Ferring Pharmaceuticals in France.
 
"Basically, Ferring has outsourced the manufacturing of the oral contraceptive pills to our company," adds Ohri. This oral contraceptive pills will be marketed by Ferring in France while in Russian and CIS countries the product will be marketed by 7 Chemicals.
 
The oral contraceptive pills that will be manufactured by 7 Chemicals are generic drug and will be packed in the form of contraceptive kits of two and three tablets. However, the company declined to give the name of the generic drugs due to the confidentiality agreement with Ferring Pharmaceuticals.
 
The company has signed supply deal with Ferring for five years for oral contraceptive pills. "The drugs will not be sold in the domestic market and is for export only," informs Ohri.
 
Recently, the Canadian subsidiary of 7 Chemicals had signed a deal with NAD Supplements Inc for packing herbal preparation in Canada, which would give additional boost to 7 Chemicals sales by another three million Canadian dollar.
 
7 Chemicals has marketing offices in Moscow, Georgia and Azerbaijan, Armenia, Chile, Philippines and South Africa and exports products to about 45 countries.
 
It also manufactures a wide range of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and formulations like artemisinin albendazole, amlodipine besylate, ampicillin, azithromycin, alprazolam, cephalosporins, as well as statins and enzymes, anti-diabetics, anti-cancer, anti-asthmatics, steroids etc.
