92% work complete on HMEL power project

Guru Gobind Singh Refinery, Bathinda, Chief Executive Officer Prabh Dass yesterday met Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to apprise him about the progress of the prestigious project. Briefing the deputy chief minister about the project, Dass said 92 per cent of the work had already been completed in this nine million metric tonnes per annum capacity refinery, with a captive power plant of 165 Mw being set up by HPCL-Mittal Energy Ltd (HMEL).

He said that a 1,009-km pipeline to carry the crude oil from Mundra to Bathinda had already been laid and a terminal established at Mundra. He said the refinery being set up at a cost of Rs 18,919 crore would produce LPG, petrol, diesel, aviation turbine fuel, coke, food grade hexane, mineral turpentine oil and polypropylene.

 

Assuring the trial run of refinery much before March 31, 2011 and 100 per cent capacity operation by September 2011, Dass informed the deputy chief minister that this prestigious project would have propelling effect in attracting industrial investment in especially downstream industries like fertilisers and other allied industries.
