IIM-Raipur hosts the first international conference
While deliberating on social media trends and possible future developments and their impact on businesses, 98 research papers were presented during the two-day international conference for social media for business, held in the state capital of Chhattisgarh.
The first ever global conference on social media's role in business operations was held under the banner of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Raipur. The conference also witnessed 137 research scholars from reputed academic institutions across India presenting around 96 research papers. The experts talked about how social media had been used by companies for brand building and achieving excellence. "The outcome of the various deliberations and discussions along with the research papers will be published by an international publication for the benefit of researchers, academic institutions and businesses," the IIM-Raipur spokesperson said. The event revolved around eight technical sessions and four power - packed panel discussions. During the panel discussions executives from top management of various reputed Indian companies debated on social media trends and its current and possible future developments and their impact on businesses. The experts observed that all real time marketing efforts need to have high visibility but more importantly, they need be relevant to the context and meaningful. It is very necessary and beneficial to empower the marketing teams, they are in constant contact with the customer and are the torch bearers of the brand, they added.
