Aasaanjobs.com, a Mumbai-based online marketplace for recruitment, has raised $5 million (nearly Rs 34 crore) in a Series-A round of funding led by Aspada Advisors, with participation from existing investors IDG Ventures and Inventus Capital.

The fresh funding which the company plans to utilise to create HR (human resource) on the cloud and explore new markets pan-India, was a follow-up from the seed round where Aasaanjobs had raised a funding of $1.5-million led by IDG Ventures and Inventus Capital early last year.

“The company would use the funds to automate its online recruitment marketplace and expand to new cities. The company would set up operations in Pune and Delhi in the first quarter and Bengaluru in the second quarter of 2016," Dinesh Goel, chief executive officer of Aasaanjobs, said. in a release on Monday.

Kartik Srivatsa, co- founder and managing partner, Aspada Advisors said, “It will be exciting to see how the team manages to mould a “workplace of the future” by leveraging technology. The unstructured nature of recruitment as a space means there is an opportunity for disruption.”

Aasaanjobs, which operates a marketplace of recruiters who help in effectively addressing the client’s (employer) recruitment needs, offers tech-backed solutions, also via a mobile app, to speed up the process of recruitment by connecting perfectly-matched candidates to recruiters.
