ABB bags Rs 512cr turnkey contracts from JSW

ABB has received orders worth Rs 512 crore from OP Jindal Group firm JSW to provide turnkey power and automation solutions for steel and power plant projects.

This includes electrical balance of plant (EBoP) solutions for a 8x15 MW power generation facility in Rajasthan and a 300 MW power plant in Bellary, Karnataka. Other systems and equipment include transformers, substations, electronic drives as well as a range of medium and  low voltage switchgear and electricals. The projects are expected to be commissioned by 2009.

A part of the $6 billion with interests in mining, carbon steel, power and oxygen, and their associated companies, JSW is in the process of enhancing its steel capacity from 3.8 million tonne per annum to 10 million tonne per annum by 2010 at Toranagallu in Bellary district of Karnataka. It will be supported by a build up of its own power generation capability.
