ABB, a provider of power and automation technologies, today announced it would acquire Bangalore-based Metsys Engineering and Consultancy Pvt Ltd for an undisclosed sum. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
Metsys Engineering was started in 2006. Over the past three years, it has developed into one of the key technical solution providers to the steel industry in India and other emerging market countries.
According to a press release issued by ABB today, Metsys employees and their research and development capabilities will be integrated into ABB’s process automation division.
“This acquisition will help us to further strengthen our strong position in the metals business and our portfolio in this growing sector,” said Biplab Majumder, vice-chairman and managing director of ABB in India. “Metsys brings to ABB an outstanding track record in cost-effective solutions and execution of metals-related projects,” he added.
