Drug firm Abbott India today said it has appointed Rehan Khan as Managing Director of the company for a period of five years.
The appointment of Khan, to be effective from May 15, comes in the wake of incumbent Vivek Mohan resigning from the top post to take over a global role in the Abbott Group, Abbott India said in a filing to the BSE.
"Vivek Mohan has been offered a global role in the Abbott Group as Senior Director, Global Integrated Health, Established Pharmaceuticals Division. As a result, Mohan has tendered resignation as Managing Director of the company effective May 15, 2012," it added.
The company said Mohan would also cease to be director of the company with effect from the said date.
Khan's appointment shall be effective immediately upon resignation of Mohan as Managing Director on May 15, 2012, it said.
The company's board, which met today, also appointed Khan as additional director of the company with effect from March 15, 2012, it added.
Scrips of of Abbott India were trading at Rs 1,535 per share on the BSE, down 1.16% from its previous close.
