Accion Labs proposes Rs 65 cr investments in Odisha

Company seeks about 1.5-2 acres of land from Odisha Computer Application Centre for setting up facility in state with an investment of about Rs 65 cr

Pittsburgh headquartered global technology firm, Accion Labs has proposed the state government to set up an offshore development centre in Bhubaneswar.

Officials said, the company has sought about 1.5-2 acres of land from Odisha Computer Application Centre for setting up its facility in the state with an investment of $ 11 million (about Rs 65 crore).

Accion Labs has offices in the US, UK, Singapore, Malaysia and India. In India, the company has offices at Bangalore and Mumbai. The company's clients include software makers, e SaaS firms, e-commerce organizations and e-business organizations. Accion Labs specializes in working with technology firms and IT organizations in the emerging technologies such as Web 2.0, SaaS, Cloud, Open-source, BI/DW, Mobility, Automation, DevOps and Big Data.
 

Similarly, Apar Technologies, another global information technology consulting company headquartered in Singapore, has sought about two acres of land for establishing its development centre in the state. "The company has proposed an investment of about USD 20 million in the state", said an OCAC official.

Technology consulting and application development, data management and business intelligence, collaboration and cloud and big data are key services provided by the Singapore based company.

The proposals of these companies will be put up to a technical committee of OCAC soon before forwarding them to Idco (Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation ) for allotment of land, added the official.

The setting up these units is key to fruition of the objective of the state government's new ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Policy-2014, which aims to achieve a gross turnover of USD four billion by 2020 and 60000 direct employment in 800 IT, ITes and Electronic System Design and Manufacturing sectors in the targeted period. For housing the IT companies, the state government has developed two dedicated IT parks. One, Infocity developed in 90's and another being developed at Infovalley spreading over 600 acres of land on the outskirts of the city.
