Adlabs, the movie processing unit of Reliance ADA Group, may soon be merged with Reliance Big Pictures following which the multiplex theatre chain would be brought under the banner of Big Cinemas.
Industry sources told PTI that since Adlabs, which was already a movie processing unit and runs 180 screens across the country at the moment, would be ultimately merged with Big Pictures. From 180 screens now, sources said that this number would go up to 300 over the next three to six months.
In a new initiative in the field of digital entertainment, Reliance ADAG today launched the Big TV DTH which would source movie contents from Hollywood’s Sony Pictures and various other production houses from Bollywood such as Adlabs.
Sanjay Behl, group head (brand & marketing), Reliance Communications, said that initially 202 channels would be beamed in the beginning, following which there would be an additional 100 in the next six months.
While Big TV would initially source contents from other broadcasters, Reliance has drawn up plans to produce content in-house by the end of the year.
