The Income Tax Department has slapped a notice on Adobe India CEO Naresh Gupta who allegedly paid a huge ransom to the kidnappers for release of his three-year-old son Ananth last month - a case that had received much media focus.

Additional Income Tax Commissioner Amar Vir Singh has asked Gupta to appear before him on December 28, infomed sources said today.

The department has sought information from Gupta about his property, bank balance and other details to determine whether the alleged ransom amount was not part of any hidden income, the sources added.

The ransom amount was allegedly recovered from a village in Bulandshahr district by the Noida Police which probed the case.

Anant, who was kidnapped on November 14 from near his residence in Noida, was released on November 17.
