Aegis Group commissions bulk liquid terminal at Pipavav port in Gujarat

Operator APM Terminals Pipavav will provide all port and marine related facilities

Logistics company Aegis Group has made a new bulk liquid terminal at the Pipavav port in Gujarat commercially operational, port operator APM Terminals Pipavav said in a release.

"This new infrastructure will act as a cost effective and efficient gateway to service industry's feedstock requirements in specialty chemicals, hazardous chemicals, petrochemicals, petroleum and non-petroleum products for the key markets of North and Northwest India," said APM Terminals Pipavav.

The Aegis Group facility is the first of three sub-lease agreements signed by the port with liquid terminal operators for setting up and operating tank farm facilities, said the release.

Operator APM Terminals Pipavav on the other hand will provide all port and marine related facilities on the waterfront to ensure seamless cargo handling, it said.

 

Of the total phase I of Aegis Group's plan to build a capacity of 120,000 Kilo Litre of liquid bulk and 2,700 tonne of bulk gas facilities across 31 tanks by second half of FY2015. 13 tanks with a capacity of 70,120 Kilo Litre or over 50 percent of the planned capacity has been commissioned.

"With the container and dry bulk business contributing steady volumes and revenue growth, commissioning of the liquid business will add another pillar for future growth of our port," the release quoted Managing Director of APM Terminals Pipavav Prakash Tulsiani as saying.

Port Pipavav is India's first port in the private sector, which is located in Saurashtra region of Gujarat.The port handles bulk, container and liquid cargo.
