AEPC plans 3 more apparel training centres

Keeping in view the growing demand for skilled manpower in the apparel industry, the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) under the Union ministry of textiles has decided to set up three more apparel training and design centres in Orissa. These training cum design centres would be set up at Sambalpur, Baripada and Cuttack during the current year under the Skill Development Project (SDP), said Lopamudra Das, head of AEPC's Bhubaneswar centre.

The centres would be set up at an investment of Rs 70 lakh each out of which Rs 40 lakh would be borne by the Orissa government and the rest by APEC. Presently, one centre of AEPC is running in the state at Bhubaneswar while two satellite centres are functioning at Berhampur and Rourkela.

 

The AEPC centres offer courses ranging from three-month, short-term certificate courses to two-year diploma courses in fashion design, garment technology and apparel information technology.
