The immediate focus would be strengthen the technology capabilities by hiring 'deep engineering' talents what the company terms as 'marines'.
"When we set up Wipro Digital, we had said that we are going to develop talents in three areas - strategy, design and technology. When we say technology, we refer to deep engineering capabilities what we call 'marine corp'," said Rajan Kohli, Senior Vice President and Global Head, Wipro Digital.
"So we would continue to build deep engineering and design talent. We have already made one big acquisition. Now we will try to grow more and more organically from here on," Kohli added.
In March this year, Wipro had set up Wipro Digital as an independent business unit with an aim of preparing itself for the new wave of opportunities in the digital space. The company had then said that its Digital business would aim to generate $1 billion in annual revenue within three years.
While Kohli did not disclose the inroad the company has made to this effect, he said the strength of the unit has doubled during the past three months and would continue to grow in that pace.
"We are starting in a small base. So it's not the number but the trajectory, speed and velocity which are important," said Kohli.
