In a survey released by Euromonitor International, the chocolate confectionery is expected to register a 22 percent value growth in 2010. Keeping this upward trend in mind, three Ahmedabad-based entrepreneurs decided to turn their love for chocolate and came up with Dangee Dums; the first premium chocolate lounge in the city on Friday.
The lounge, run by Nikul Patel, Ravi Patel and Mrudang Jambusaria, has tied up with Barry Callebaut which is the world's leading supplier of high quality cocoa and chocolate products.
Speaking on the launch, Mrudang Jambusaria, director of Dangee Dums said, "Many a times we have seen people coming back from foreign countries with packets of the finest chocolates. This is when we thought why not start a lounge dedicated to spread the chocolate culture in Ahmedabad especially for chocolate aficionados in Ahmedabad. Dangee Dums as a brand aims at positioning chocolate eating as a serious and informed choice. Its presence will be national and subsequently international through a franchising model in the future."
Abhiru Biswas, technical advisor, Gourmet, Barry Callebaut said, "The concept is novel to Ahmedabad and we thought of associating with this brand as it has great potential in a market like Ahmedabad which encourages new entreprenial ideas and its people are known for their experimental tastes with respect to food."
While the Ahmedabad outlet of Dangee Dums will be corporate and management driven, the future presence of the outlet will be national and subsequently international through both company-owned-company-operated (C.O.C.O) and franchising model.
"We foresee Dangee Dums to have a national presence as well as to be an organised quality consumer - retail brand with own world class manufacturing unit to cater to requirements across multi – sectors," said Pradeep Rey.
