In what will come as good news for soccer aficionados, public broadcaster All India Radio has tied up with the British Broadcasting Corporation to bring key matches of the Fifa World Cup live to radio listeners across India. |
According to the arrangement between Prasar Bharati and the BBC World Service, All India Radio (AIR) will relay live commentary of all matches featuring soccer biggies "" Brazil, Argentina, Germany and England. |
A total of 11 pool matches will be relayed over the air network comprising 65 primary service stations, 17 rainbow FM channels and the Vividh Bharati service, which will relay late night matches. |
The commentary will be in English, and will be given by BBC Radio Five's Allan Green and John Murray. The commentary for the two semi-finals and final matches will be in Hindi and English, as AIR will send its team to Germany to cover the matches live. |
This deal is over and above the daily World Cup reports that the BBC is already giving to AIR. These can be heard daily on AIR's FM Gold 106.4 FM and Rajdhani channel at 07.05 local time everyday until July 10. |
