AirAsia is expanding its capacity to India adding three additional flights to Trichy in Tamil Nadu. The additional flights which will increase the number of services to Trichy to fourteen a week will commence from May 26, the airline announced today.
AirAsia plans to start its domestic operations from later this year and has already secured a nod from Foreign Inevstment Promotion Board. The airline will have a hub in Chennai and use 3-4 airbus A320s for its domestic service.
The additional flight frequencies, available on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, is open for booking with promotional all-in-fares offered from as low as Rs 3000 one way. This promotion is only applicable for flights on the aforementioned days.

The Kuala Lumpur – Trichy additional flight frequencies will give immense benefit to Indian nationals working and living in Malaysia and across the region. Infact the airline launched its India service with a flight to Trichy in December 2008 and now flies to Chennai, Kochi, Bangalore and Kolkata as well.
Last year AirAsia pulled out of Mumbai and Delhi sector citing high airport tariff and poor passenger demand as the reason. The airline chief executive officer Tony Fernandes has ruled out operations to these two cities in its domestic network.
