Airport work from October

Larsen and Toubro on Wednesday said that it will would start the civil construction work for Rs 1,150 crore bangalore international airport project by October this year.
 
"We would start the basic construction work for bangalore airport upgradation project by October, 2004," deputy managing director A Ramakrishna told reporters here at the sidelines of a CII 'Construction Summit 2004'.
 
The financial closure is expected to be over by next month, he said.
 
The Siemens-Zurich airport-L&T combines holds 74 per cent equity, with Siemens project venture holding the biggest chunk of 40 per cent. L&T has 17 per cent stake in the project.
 
The international airport is likely to be operationalised by early 2007, Ramakrishna added.
 
Once operational, the airport is expected to cater to four million passengers initially.
