Telecom giant Bharti Airtel has adopted a primary school in Nigeria as part of a programme launched by the company to support the growth and development of education in the country.
The company recently launched 'Adopt a School' programme by adopting Oremeji Primary School 2 at Ajegunle in the country's commercial capital, Lagos.
Airtel Nigeria will build an ultra-modern six classroom block at the school in Ajegunle as part of its social responsibility scheme, Rajan Swaroop, chief executive of the company in Nigeria, said.
The school will also have an office for the head teacher and water borehole with lavatory facilities for the boys and girls as well as male and female teachers.
The company would also provide school uniforms, furniture, books and school bags for the children, he said.
Swaroop said that the company would continue to support the government in achieving its objectives in the area of education.
