Intensifying the fight in data market, country’s top operator Bharti Airtel has announced a plan wherein any customer buying a new 4G handset will get 10 GB of 3G/4G data on a recharge of Rs 259.

Vodafone too had announced a similar plan for three months where customers just need to pay for 1 GB of data and the remaining 9 GB comes free. Vodafone’s offer also is for new 4G handsets.

The incumbents are coming out with such plans in order to retain customers as Reliance Jio is offering all its services free of cost till December 31.

Elaborating about the new plan, Airtel said 1 GB data will be instantly credited to the customer’s account and the additional 9 GB data can be claimed by the customer through MyAirtel app. The data will be valid for 28 days. Users can avail a maximum of 3 recharges within 90 days, on the offer.

“We are proud to have pioneered 4G network for users in India. This invitational offer has been designed for our data savvy customers who can now experience high speed broadband on Airtel’s 4G network with their new devices,” Ajai Puri, Director – Market Operations, Bharti Airtel said.

The offer was introduced in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh last week and has now been extended across India and is available across all brands of 4G handsets.

Airtel 4G is currently available in 18 circles across India. In non 4G circles, 3G data will be available to customers with their 4G devices.
