Air India SATS Airport Services (AISATS), a joint venture between Air India Limited and SATS Limited (formerly Singapore Airport Terminal Services), has been appointed by Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (Thai) in Hyderabad to provide ground-handling services for its cargo freighter aircraft.
Thai is introducing its first Boeing 747-400 retrofitted cargo freighter aircraft, which is designed to carry 100 tonne per flight to and from Asia, Europe and Australia. The aircraft will operate to nine cities – Talpei, Tokyo, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Sydney and Bangkok.
The first stop of the Thai cargo aircraft is at Hyderabad international airport on April 12, where AISATS will manage the entire ramp operations for the freighter, AISATS said in a press release on Wednesday.
AISATS started its Hyderabad operations in March 2008 serving Air India and other international airlines. It has, in the past year, handled over 9,000 flights with staff strength of around 900 people out of Hyderabad.
