Ajay Kapila appointed Electrolux sales head

Home appliances maker Electrolux Kelvinator Ltd (EKL) has appointed Ajay Kapila as its new vice-president (sales and marketing).
 
Kapila moves in from JK Tyres where he was director (sales).
 
According to EKL, Kapila's new role at the company includes establishing Electrolux's brand leadership across the existing market segments, and to oversee sales, brand management, strategic planning and sales functions.
 
Commenting on Kapila's appointment, Rajeev Karwal, CEO, EKL said, "Kapila brings with him an in-depth knowledge and a first hand experience of the functioning of consumer durables industry.
 
"Today, when Electrolux Kelvinator is on its way to become the most innovative consumer durables company brand in India, we are very confident that his appointment will add tremendous value to the organisation."
 
The top marketing post has been lying vacant since the last six months.
 
Earlier, Kapila had worked under Karwal at LG Electronics India Ltd, before taking over as LG's marketing and sales head after Karwal's exit in December 1999. Beginning his career in 1986, Kapila has been moving back and forth between the automobile and consumer durables industries.
 
After an eight-year stint with LG, Kapila moved to Kinetic Engineering and later switched to JK Tyres.
 
"While I enjoyed a great relationship with JK Industries, I am very happy about this assignment at EKL as I am passionate about the consumer durables industry. I am confident that with my domain knowledge, I will be able to contribute positively to EKL's growth," said Kapila.
