Alcatel India R&D head moves to Thomson

Alcatel-Lucent's Indian R&D head Subhash Bana has resigned after a 14-year-long stint with the company.
 
Bana, who was based in Chennai, is now moving to Mumbai to head local operations of digital video technologies firm Thomson.
 
He will join Thompson as managing director on July 16. When contacted, Bana confirmed the development.
 
"Alcatel-Lucent is a great company with robust operational and leadership capabilities. I enjoyed working with it in various roles over the last 14 years. Thomson is a world leader in digital video technologies. Media and entertainment sector of India is on the verge of phenomenal growth in the coming years. I believe it is a great prospect to lead Thomson in India during such an exciting period," he said.
 
Alcatel-Lucent's has a strong R&D facility in the country and the technology major had spent over $2.7 billion in 2006. With centres in Chennai, Hyderabad, Noida, Gurgaon and Bangalore, the company conducts R&D in software, data and wireless technologies.
 
Prior to joining Alcatel, Subhash Bana had worked with Tata Electric Companies in Mumbai for over five years and with Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Hyderabad, for four years.
 
Subhash is an electronics & communications engineering graduate with an MBA degree in finance and corporate strategy.
