Alcome confident of cornering perfume market

Alcome Perfumes and Cosmetics, the Indian subsidiary of Alcome Perfumes and Cosmetics, USA, which debuted in the Indian market about two weeks back, is confident that it can be the leader in this market, both in terms of sales and production.
 
To achieve this end, a new manufacturing plant of the company was commissioned recently at Noida. The facility is spread over 5 acres in the Noida special economic zone..
 
"With the new plant having a capacity of producing 4 lakh bottles per day, the highest in the world, we wish to emerge as a market leader both in sales and production. Around 30 per cent of the total production will be used domestically," Sanjeev Nayyar, vice-president of the company said.
 
Alcome, the world's 2nd largest perfume company has a 33 per cent perfume market share worldwide. The existing plants (at Noida and Bhiwadi) have a combined production capacity 100,000 and 10,000 bottles per day. The company today announced the entry of its perfume range in the Uttar Pradesh market.
 
"We are quite bullish about the Uttar Pradesh fragrance market, which is worth Rs. 50 crore. For sales, the company will tie up with major retail outlets and develop a network of direct selling agents. We plan to have over 10,000 channel partners across the state," Nayyar added.
 
Alcome Perfumes and Cosmetics, so far, were manufactured in Noida and Bhiwadi and were exported to 68 countries. A huge chunk of its exports goes to the US, Europe and the the Middle East.
 
"We have earmarked a budget of about Rs 100 crore for expansion across the country this year. The reason is that UP is a price conscious state we have started our range from Rs 99, which is affordable by the masses," Nayyar said.
 
Of the nearly 600 types of perfumes worldwide, Alcome plans to introduce 100 variants every year in India. After Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, the company soon will be venture into Gujarat.
