US-based real estate developer, Alexandria's arm-Alexandria Real Estates Mauritius, has bagged the proposed biotechnology cluster, Bangalore Helix project of Karnataka. “We will invest around Rs 500 crore to develop this 56 acres of the project in Bangalore,” Vishal Goel, country manager-India of Alexandria said. The work will be started in next three to four months and will be completed in next two years, he added. The company, which will fund it from internal accruals, will soon float expression of interest from biotechnology companies to set up shops in the cluster.
“We may also try to drop this tag of SEZ status as start-ups find the documentation difficult to occupy facility in a SEZ,” Goel said.
