State-run Allahabad Bank today said its net profit jumped by 55.78 per cent to Rs 264.05 crore in the March quarter of 2008-09.
The bank had a net profit of Rs 169.50 crore in the same quarter last fiscal, Allahabad Bank said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Total income stood at Rs 2,373.37 crore for the quarter under review, against Rs 1,980.16 crore during the same period of FY'08.For the year ended March 31, the company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 790.47 crore, down 20.47 per cent from Rs 993.98 crore in 2007-2008.The board has proposed a dividend of Rs 2.50 a piece to the shareholders of the company.
Shares of Allahabad Bank were trading at Rs 56.70, up eight per cent on the BSE.
