The contract includes supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 87 remote terminal units and nine control centres

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Alstom T&D India has secured a contract worth euro 8.4 million (Rs 67 crore approximately) from PowerGrid Corporation to expand and upgrade energy management systems for several control centres in North East.

The contract includes expansion and upgradation of energy management systems for North Eastern Regional Load Despatch Centre and seven other Regional Load Despatch Centres.

"The euro 8.4 million contract includes supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 87 remote terminal units and nine control centres," Alstom T&D India said in a statement today.

Remote terminal units are intelligent devices that collect data from remote locations to enhance network visibility for grid operators.

Alstom's e-terra platform software solution analyses the data to help grid operators take decisions in real-time and enhance grid security.

The North Eastern Regional Load Despatch Centre system operator can thus anticipate abnormalities and prevent costly outcomes such as blackout.

"Alstom T&D India had previously commissioned three National Load Despatch Centres and two datacom networks. This contract demonstrates Alstom's continued commitment to strengthen the national grid, making it secure, reliable and smart," Rathin Basu, Managing Director of Alstom T&D India, said in the statement.

Shares of the company were trading at Rs 261, up 0.38% on the BSE.
