Alstom T&D India bags Rs 158 cr order

The order has been awarded by Meja Urja Nigam Pvt Ltd -- a JV of NTPC and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd

Alstom T&D India today said it has bagged a Rs 158 crore contract from a joint venture firm of the state-owned NTPC for setting up a sub-station in Meja, Uttar Pradesh.

The order has been awarded by Meja Urja Nigam Pvt Ltd -- a JV of NTPC and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd.

In a statement, Alstom T&D India said it would carry out engineering work, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of a 400 kV substation at Meja in Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.

The coal-based 1,320 MW Meja project will help increase overall power generation in the northern region.

"The scope of work for this 400 kV substation includes delivery of generator transformer, interconnecting transformers, shunt reactors, circuit breakers, instrument transformers and substation automation system," the statement said.

The products required to implement the contract would be delivered from Alstom T&D India's facilities at Naini in Uttar Pradesh as well as Padappai, Hosur and Pallavaram, all in Tamil Nadu.

"This project reinforces our expertise in providing highly reliable and advanced solutions in transmission," Alstom T&D India Managing Director Rathin Basu said.

Alstom T&D India is a leading player in delivering transmission solutions ranging from High Voltage (HV) to Ultra High Voltage (UHV) levels.
