Altair, the global provider of technology and services,today said it planned to expand its product development centre at Bangalore and set up centres of excellence in collaboration with educational institutes.
"We plan to augment manpower at the Bangalore development centre.We have increased our manpower from 80 to 220 and plan to add more numbers shortly", Nelson Dias, VP-APAC, Altair told reporters here today.
The firm was also in the process of setting up centres of excellence in collaboration with NITs and had set up one such centre in tie up with University of Hyderabad, he said.
Altair's focus in India is to deliver solutions that allow its clients to rapidly experiment with their ideas by evaluating options and trade-offs in near-real time.
In India, several firms including those in automotives and white goods sector had approached them to help them in bringing innovative products to the market
The company plans to make three more acquisition in the near future with one of them being out of India. "Our acquisitions are more technology driven rather than market share based", he said adding one of the acquisitions in Europe was expected to happen in a month's time but did not elaborate.

In India, the company plans to acquire new customers and add more manpower, he said.
Headquartered in Michigan, with its Indian subsidiary Altair India headquarered in Bangalore, the company is involved in execution of Computer Aided Engineering Solutions, Grid Computing Technology, Product Innovation, Consulting and Business Intelligence Software for various customers globally.
