Industrial and automotive battery-maker Amara Raja Batteries Limited posted a net profit of Rs 106 crore for the first quarter of 2014-15, a rise of eight per cent from the corresponding quarter last year. Net sales increased 16 per cent to Rs 1,025 crore from Rs 887 crore in the same period.
The company stated in a press release that the automotive battery business continued to maintain the growth momentum in four-wheeler batteries, while a significant volume growth in two- wheeler batteries added to the performance of the business unit.
