Ambuja, ACC despatches up in July

Cement despatches of Gujarat Ambuja Cement and The Associated Cement Companies have increased by 19.8 per cent and 7.65 per cent respectively in July compared with despatches in the corresponding month of the previous year.

Gujarat Ambuja Cement has registered a 19.8 per cent jump in its despatches at 11.43 lakh tonne against 9.54 lakh tonne in July 2003. The company's production also increased 16.92 per cent to 11.47 lakh tonne against 9.81 lakh tonne in July 2003.

Analysts tracking the sector said, "Demand in the northern region and Gujarat has been very good and since Gujarat Ambuja has a strong presence in these markets, its' sales have gone up."

Meanwhile, ACC's despacthes for July, stood at 12.79 lakh tonne against 11.88 lakh tonne, an increase of 7.65 per cent. The company produced 13.23 lakh tonne of cement in the month, a rise of 10 per cent compared with a production of 12.02 lakh tonne in July 2003.

ACC's total despatches in April to July increased 6.2 per cent at 54.05 lakh tonne against 50.89 lakh tonne in the corresponding period of the previous year. Production went up 7.35 per cent at 54.75 lakh tonne, compared with 51 lakh tonne in the corresponding period of the previous year.
