Ambuja Cements net up 12% at Rs 292cr

Ambuja Cements (ACL), India's third largest cement maker, today reported a 11.72% increase in net profit at Rs 292.44 crore for the quarter ended September 30,2007 when compared with Rs 261.76 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Total income during the period increased 13.61% to Rs 1,318.32 crore from Rs 1,160.43 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Swiss cement major Holcim holds 36.2% stake in ACL. Ambuja's current manufacturing capacity is 16 million tonne per annum (mtpa). It is on an expansion spree to take total capacity to around 22 mtpa by 2009.
