In a bid to keep milk adulteration in check, country's leading milk supplier Amul has deployed a mobile van to conduct on-the-spot checks of the milk samples in 1200 village cooperative societies under its jurisdiction. "Amul has taken a lead in Gujarat and other parts of the country in getting this mobile van, which will help in keeping a check on milk adulteration," Amul chairman Ramsinh Parmar said.
The 1200 societies attached to Amul are spread over two districts of Anand and Kheda. "This will ensure speedy testing of suspicious samples," he said. The menace of adulteration is hazardous as milk is consumed by both rich and the poor, he added.
