Direct selling major Amway India has posted about 16% growth in sales in the state in 2013 compared to the previous year.
"In Odisha, the company's sales turnover increased to Rs 68.24 crore last year from Rs 59.1 crore clocked in the previous year, an increase of about 16%". said Diptarag Bhattacharjee, Vice President-East, Amway India.
He attributed this phenomenon to the rise in disposable income of the people in the state.
He said, sales growth rate achieved by the company in Odisha was the highest among all the states in the country while in terms of volume of sales, Odisha figured among the top 10 states.
Odisha as a state contributes about 3% to the national turnover and 16% to the turnover in the eastern region comprising West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, North East and Andaman Nicobar Islands.
"Out of total turnover, the nutrition segment contributes about 60% followed by beauty segment at 12%", he added.
Amway India operates with five offices in the state, located at Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Rourkela, Jeypore and Berhampur. Home delivery contributes about 53% to overall sales in Odisha.
Stating that the sales have been impacted in the state due to the ongoing polls, he said, it is likely to go up once the elections results are out after May 16.
Amway India turnover touched Rs 2169 crores in 2013 and the company aims to achieve net sales revenue of $ one billion by 2020. It has decided to invest additional Rs 150 crore, over and above earlier estimates of Rs 460 crore, at its manufacturing facility in Tamilnadu which is likely to be commissioned by the end of 2014.

The commercial production at the plant will start from mid-2015, Bhattacharjee said.
The company today announced the launch of a new line of summer colors under its brand Attitude in Odisha as well as in the eastern region. This summer colors comprise six shades of lip colors, four shades of nail colors.
