Ahmedabad: In a first-of-its-kind venture in the country, Anant Raj Industries, a Delhi-based real estate development company, is planning to set up an education city at Mehsana in Gujarat. At a total investment of Rs 3,500 to Rs 4,000 crore, the city will house the best educational institutes. Anant Raj has been allotted 750 acres by the Gujarat government.

“The concept of education city is unique and similar to that of the only one in Wales. The education city will be a township, based on education and will welcome universities, schools, colleges and institute which cater to the education sector. We recently acquired the land and would begin construction soon.

The education city should be fully functional in five months. It is too early to comment on the tie-ups with the educational institutes, which will be a part of this township but we are also in talks with international universities and are likely to come up with names in the next 30 days,” said Amit Sarin, ED, Anant Raj Industries.

“We will provide all the infrastructure required to develop the education city, which will be located just 90 km from Ahmedabad. Facilities like services appartments, multiplexes and hotels, to name a few, will be a part of this educational city. The investment will be in phases and the total investment will be between Rs 3.500 and Rs 4,000 crore,” Sarin added.

The company is in the process of building an array of special economic zones (SEZs), IT parks, hotels, commercial complexes, malls, residential, service apartments and other infrastructure projects.
